  1. Boss MS-3 Pedal Switcher Review

    Boss MS-3 Pedal Switcher Review
When the Boss MS-3 Multi-Effects Processor And Loop Switcher was first announced, it instantly became one of the most anticipated pieces of gear around. Early impressions built it as a powerful yet portable device that could deliver the flexibility and precision of professional-grade setups that normally require dozens of pieces of expensive gear, all for about $400. Truth be told, I was admittedly skeptical. Well, I’ve had a chance to spend some quality time with the Boss MS-3 and all I can say is that it delivered the goods and then some. No, it’s not perfect but it definitely succeeds in its main goal of bringing a massive amount of tonal tools in a sleek little package.   Continue reading →

Brand Spotlight: Boss Katana Guitar Amplifiers
As one of the early pioneers of digital effects, Boss is highly responsible for pushing the limits of what pedals could offer musicians outside of the studio. But as great as their pedals are, Boss is more than just an effects manufacturer -- they also make their own amplifiers. Today, we take a look at three different flavors of the Boss Katana guitar amp line up -- a 1x12 combo, a 2x12 combo, and a fully featured amp head.   Continue reading →
  3. Wampler Ethereal Reverb Delay Guitar Effects Pedal Review

Wampler Ethereal Reverb Delay Guitar Effects Pedal Review
Aside from maybe distortion and overdrive, reverb and delay are easily two of the most often used and recognizable effects in rock. From the old school tape echo machines of yore or the modern digital delays and their countless voicings, there are a ton of flavors to choose from between the two. But pedalboard real estate is scarce so having more than one type of effect isn't something most us are comfortable with. Enter the Wampler Ethereal, a highly versatile pedal that not only combines reverb and delay into one box but does so with powerful settings that let you dial up a ton of highly useful sounds. From huge swaths of dreamy ambiance to no nonsense meat and potatoes reverb and delay, the Wampler Ethereal delivers.   Continue reading →
  4. Boutique Guitar Effects Pedal Makers You Need To Check Out

Boutique Guitar Effects Pedal Makers You Need To Check Out
When guitar players think of boutique effects pedals, one word always seems to come to mind -- expensive. And while it's often true that these effects tend to retail at a higher price point than those from massive pedal makers (often not by much), what is lost in the dollar amount is the unique, high-quality experiences they bring. If you've been ignoring these lesser known brands, you're doing yourself and your sound a disservice as boutique effects pedals tend to be meticulously designed and feature a unique take that the big guys just don't offer. With that said, we'd like to share a few of our favorite boutique pedal brands that show their gear is well worth the price.   Continue reading →

A Few Of Our Favorite '50s Rock Guitar Pickups For The Fender Stratocaster
While there the modern age of music gear has brought us a ton of innovations many of us can't live without, there's just something about that classic 1950s rock and roll that will live on forever. And while many guitars can stake a claim to carving out that signature tone, few take as much credit as the Fender Stratocaster. I mean, it was released the same year that the term "Rock and Roll" was first coined -- that has to be more than a coincidence! With that said, we'd like to take a look at a few of our favorite Strat pickups tailor-made for that classic '50s sound. Check out a few of our favorites below!     Continue reading →
