Look out for Old Sock when it hits stores March 12, 2013.

Alright, you knew it was coming, but the wait will soon be over as legendary guitarist Eric Clapton has just revealed the release date for his upcoming brand new album along with details on all of the records special guest artists.

The new album, entitled “Old Sock,” is set for a March 12th release date and will feature plenty of heavy hitters including Paul McCartney, JJ Cale, Steve Winwood, Chaka Kahn and Jim Keltner.

"Old Sock" will feature Clapton's interpretations of some of his favorite songs as well as two new original songs; "Every Little Thing" and "Gotta Get Over."

The bulk of the album is made up of Clapton's new versions of songs from Leadbelly, J.J. Cale, Peter Tosh, George Gershwin, Hank Snow, Gary Moore and Taj Mahal.

And as far as those special guest collaborations go, Clapton enlisted longtime jam buddy JJ Cale who provides backing vocals and guitar on the track "Angel.”

Chaka Khan meanwhile is backing vocalist for "Get On Over," Steve Winwood plays Hammond B3 Organ on "Still Got The Blues," Paul McCartney adds bass and vocals to "All of Me" and Jim Keltner plays drums on "Our Love is Here To Stay".

True, this album doesn’t stray far from Slow Hand’s signature formula of reimagined blues standards with a sprinkle of originals but whenever you bring together skill such as Clapton’s along with a slew of veteran talent – you can’t really go wrong.

Old Sock was produced by Eric Clapton, Doyle Bramhall II, Justin Stanley and Simon Climie. And much like fellow rockers Metallica and their Blackened Records, Clapton will be releasing the record, his 21st studio album, through his new label Bushbranch.
