  1. Godin MultiAc Nylon Encore 7 Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Godin MultiAc Nylon Encore 7 Acoustic Electric Guitar Review
In 2011, Godin introduced the MultiAc Encore Nylon acoustic electric guitar. Compared to traditional classical nylon guitars, the Encore featured a narrower nut width and a longer fret length, similar to what you’d expect to find on a typical steel string acoustic. This made the Encore an enticing acoustic for players looking to finally dip their toes in the nylon guitar waters. Now Godin is back with the MultiAc Encore Nylon 7 -- a nylon acoustic-electric guitar that is essentially a 7-string version of the 2011 Encore. And if you’re familiar with the original, you’d know that’s definitely not a bad thing. Read on for our impressions on the Godin MultiAc Encore 7 Nylon acoustic-electric guitar.   Continue reading →
  2. Brand Spotlight: Morgan Amplification Guitar Effects Pedals

Brand Spotlight: Morgan Amplification Guitar Effects Pedals
Morgan Amplification isn't a name you hear often when discussing guitar effects pedals. As their name suggests, the company's main focus is guitar tube amps. But that's not stopping the California-based manufacturer from throwing their expertise into the effects arena. I've always been a fan of effects created by manufacturers who typically dwell in other areas as their pedals tend to feature some unique wrinkles that you might not see with your average stompbox maker, so I was excited to see what Morgan Amplification had to offer. Long story short, they didn't disappoint. Read on for a closer look at the Morgan Fuzz, NKT275 Fuzz, MKII Fuzz and Morgan OD guitar effects pedals.       Continue reading →
  3. A Closer Look At The Tech 21 Fly Rig 5, Fly Rig Cali And Fly Rig Brit Effects

A Closer Look At The Tech 21 Fly Rig 5, Fly Rig Cali And Fly Rig Brit Effects
When the original SansAmp “speaker in a box” was released in 1989, it opened a world of rich, warm, tube amp tone that could fit in the palm of your hand. Over a quarter of a decade and dozens of products later, Tech 21 continues creating gear that delivers authentic, analog sound and powerful controls. And of all of their products, few are as intriguing as their Fly Rig series -- a combination of Tech 21 pedals in the form of a compact board. While it might look like your average multi-effects unit, that would be doing the Fly Rig a disservice, as Tech 21’s aim here is clearly quality over quantity. Read on to see what the Tech 21 Fly Rig Series is all about, specifically the Fly Rig 5, Fly Rig Cali and Fly Rig Brit.   Continue reading →
  4. A Closer Look At The Seymour Duncan Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Pickup Set

A Closer Look At The Seymour Duncan Jimi Hendrix Signature Strat Pickup Set
In commemoration of their 40th anniversary, Seymour Duncan has decided to scrounge their archive of early designs in order to reintroduce a few sets of pickups that could best convey their founder’s ingenuity and innovation. One such design buried beneath miles of broken coils, hundreds of dust ridden schematics and years of product knowledge are the Jimi Hendrix Signature Stratocaster set -- three single-coil pickups that are as much a product of Seymour Duncan the man as they are of Hendrix himself.     Continue reading →
  5. Line 6 Wireless Relay System Showdown: G10, G30, G55 and G90 Compared

    Line 6 Wireless Relay System Showdown: G10, G30, G55 and G90 Compared
In this day and age, everything is going wireless. From our internet connection to our headphones, cutting the cord is more the norm than the exception. But when it comes to rocking out, plugging in continues to rule supreme. Sure, professional musicians use wireless systems all the time, but it remains uncommon with the rest of us weekend warriors. I get it -- tone is king and you can't expect a wireless system to match the fidelity of an analog signal traveling through a physical cable, at least not without a huge investment and some headaches along the way. But is that really true? With that in mind, we decided to get up close and personal with Line 6 Wireless Relay series, from the entry-level G10 to the top of the line G90. If you’ve had your eye on a wireless system but simply didn’t know enough to take the plunge, read on.     Continue reading →
